Shortly after adopting a dog, her new owner was left confused when her companion started growling at her. The shy Shepherd mix had settled well into her forever home, but one morning she became distressed. She began barking and growling – and she wouldn’t stop.
Suzy Chandler had re-homed the three-year-old dog, named Kailey, just two weeks before. In doing so, she had saved her from euthanasia. Barking and growling was out of character for the pooch, and her owner realized that something was terribly wrong. “All of a sudden she just started barking and looking at us and growling, like trying to get our attention,” Suzy explained in an interview with FOX 5.
Before being adopted, Kailey had been on DeKalb County Animal Services’ adoption list for a whole year. No one seemed to want her – and if no one took her then she faced being euthanized.
