Much of the media coverage and speculation concerned the star’s family life, in particular his three children – Michael Jackson Jr., Paris Jackson, and Prince Michael Jackson II. The latter of whom hit the headlines – and almost the sidewalk – when his father dangled him from a Berlin hotel balcony in 2002.
All three children dealt with their father’s fame in different ways. But it was middle child Paris who seemingly had the most troubled upbringing. Despite leading a private life while her father was alive, the only daughter of the pop phenomenon struggled greatly with cyberbullies once she became more prominent in the public eye.
In 2012, Paris appeared on Oprah Winfrey’s Next Chapter TV show, in which Jackson’s daughter revealed her troubles with internet trolls. Sadly, in 2013, press reports alleged that the troubled teen may have made a possible attempt on her own life. The claim in People magazine stated that Paris had “cut her wrists with a kitchen knife and took as many as 20 ibuprofen tablets.”
