When Christina Aguilera performed a tribute to Whitney Houston at the AMAs in November 2017, the camera swung around to take in the faces of the audience. One of these faces was that of pop star Pink, and it was set in what appeared to be a grimace. The internet quickly started speculating on what was going on between the two women. They did, after all, have a history of feuding. Pink herself eventually had to step in and explain things.
Pink (real name Alecia Beth Moore) and Christina Aguilera have an awful lot in common. Both are strong, talented women who’ve worked not only as musicians but as activists for important causes. Both went from being bland, average pop acts to being artists with a musical legacy. And both had difficult childhoods, which they overcame to make it in the music world.
As young female stars, the two were often compared to each other. But Pink always seemed to be the more adventurous and daring one. A 2003 profile of Pink in the Los Angeles Times suggested that Pink had “started a race among other teen pop stars like Christina Aguilera to add substance to their own sound.”
