Best known for playing Jadzia Dax in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Terry Farrell extended her affiliation with the sci-fi franchise when she married the son of Leonard Nimoy. And the happy couple even decided to honor the original Spock with their choice of wedding date. Here’s a look at both their and the late, great actor’s stories.
Born in Boston in 1931, Leonard Nimoy first pursued a career as an acting teacher before showing up on screens himself. Nimoy’s first notable role was in Kid Monk Baroni, the 1952 film noir in which he played a disfigured street-smart teen who takes up boxing. The fledgling actor then starred as one of three extra-terrestrial invaders in Zombies of the Stratosphere later that same year.
Of course, Nimoy was launched to worldwide fame when he was cast as another alien in 1964. The actor played Spock – the Starship Enterprise’s human-Vulcan first officer renowned for his unusual ears and distinctive hand salute – in Star Trek for five years on the small screen. He also portrayed the character in eight movies and numerous spin-offs.
