Fischer, meanwhile, was born and raised in Martha’s Vineyard, the island off the coast of Massachusetts. Now an acclaimed chef, he still resides on the island, where he owns a small farm. He did plenty of fishing and hunting during his childhood and later gained experience at Babbo, Mario Batali’s celebrated New York restaurant. Schumer and Fischer welcomed their first child into the world in May 2019.
After spending time away from Martha’s Vineyard, Fischer returned to the island to live at Beetlebung Farm, which has been in his family for more than half a century. The estate covers a little under 6 acres, and Fischer has established a market there since he moved back.
“After years of working for other people, my intuition is, ‘I’m doing this on my own terms,’” Fischer told Boston magazine. He admitted that most of the time he’s “dead broke” but said that in spite of this, he remains committed to keeping the farm going.
