TV has given us some famous lotharios over the years, from Mad Men’s Don Draper to Friends’ Joey Tribbiani. But few womanizers have been as prolific – not to mention as unlikely – as Jerry Seinfeld’s self-centered alter ego on Seinfeld. Indeed, during the sitcom’s 1989 to 1998 run, the stand-up seemed to have a different woman on his arm every week. And, although on the show Jerry always found some hare-brained reason to break it off with them, many of the women who played his paramours have gone on to do interesting things in real life. So 20 years on, we catch up with some of Seinfeld’s most memorable exes.
20. Julia Louis-Dreyfus – Elaine Benes
Although Jerry and Elaine spent the vast majority of Seinfeld as friends, they actually began life as ex-lovers and briefly got back together in season two’s “The Deal.” The woman behind Elaine – Julia Louis-Dreyfus – was one of the show’s main stars, and she even won an Emmy for her role in 1996. And two decades on, Louis-Dreyfus is still reeling in the awards with her role as Selina Meyer on Veep.
19. Anna Gunn – Amy
What could be worse than being married to a meth-cooking sociopath? Why, dating Jerry Seinfeld, of course. Yes, before she was Walter White’s wife Skyler, Anna Gunn played Amy in the season five Seinfield episode “The Glasses.” But – while her presence may please many of it fans – she wasn’t Breaking Bad’s only star to brush with the thorny comedian. In fact, Bryan Cranston himself had a recurring role as Jerry’s dentist.
