Jordy Nelson recently guided the Green Bay Packers to victory over the Dallas Cowboys with a touchdown and two receptions for 24 yards. The win came just days after the wide receiver and his family received some news that would change their lives forever. Here’s how the NFL star enjoyed the perfect week.
Born in Manhattan, Kansas in 1985, Jordy Nelson was his high school’s star quarterback. But he broke through at college level as a wide receiver. He earned All-American honors while playing for Kansas State University’s Wildcats team, and was also shortlisted for the Biletnikoff Award. In 2008 he was selected by the Green Bay Packers in the NFL Draft second round.
Nelson began to assert his place in the team in 2010, the season in which Green Bay Packers lifted the Super Bowl. Indeed, Nelson was instrumental in their 31-25 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers, achieving a career high of nine receptions for 140 yards. He subsequently signed a three-year contract extension with the Packers worth more than $13 million.
