Pamela Anderson’s love life has long made headlines, and at the beginning of 2020 there was another twist in the tale. You see, she left fans stunned when she revealed that she’d walked down the aisle for a fifth time. Sources claimed that the Baywatch actress was truly in love, but not long after the wedding, she shared another shocking announcement.
Anderson and Peters kept their romance pretty quiet. Although the pair had actually known each other for over three decades, the wedding came as a surprise to the public. The top-secret nuptials were held in January 2020 in Malibu, and when news of it broke a publicist for Anderson told People magazine, “They are very much in love.”
Anderson’s son Brandon was also delighted that his mom was getting hitched. That month he told Fox News, “I’m incredibly happy for my mom and [Peters]. They’ve known each other for over 35 years, and I wish them luck in this next chapter of their lives together. I will support the happy couple however I can, and I’m excited to get to know [Peters’] family even better.”
Just one day after Anderson walked down the aisle, Peters sang the praises of his new bride to The Hollywood Reporter. He declared, “[Anderson] has never seen her full potential as an artist. She has yet to shine in a real way. There is much more to her than meets the eye – or I wouldn’t love her so much.”
The movie mogul also gave a little insight into the couple’s past. He said, “There are beautiful girls everywhere. I could have my pick, but for 35 years I’ve only wanted Pamela. She makes me wild – in a good way. She inspires me. I protect her and treat her the way she deserves to be treated.”
Anderson, meanwhile, also had her say about her relationship to The Hollywood Reporter. The actress penned a poem, which read, “[Peters] is the original ‘bad boy’ of Hollywood – no one compares – [and] I love him deeply like family. His life used to scare me – so much for a girl like me. Now I’ve seen more of life and realize… He’s been there all along.”
The poem went on, “I’m ready now, and he’s ready too. We understand and respect each other. We love each other without conditions. I’m a lucky woman – proof God has a plan.” Yes, the former Baywatch star seemed to be head over heels for her new husband.
Anderson seemingly hadn’t had an awful lot of luck with romantic entanglements in the past, however. In fact, she had said, “I do,” four times before wedding Peters. In February 1995 the actress had tied the knot with Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee – having reportedly only known him for a few days. And she’d famously donned a bikini as her bridal outfit.
Interestingly, Peters’ name came up in the coverage of Anderson and Lee’s liaison, as he was linked to Anderson even back then. A few days after the wedding, the newspaper Newsday reported that “Jon Peters thought he and Anderson had a good thing going, but little did he know that she had long hungered for the thin, heavily tattooed [Lee].”
Over the next few years Anderson had two children with Lee: Brandon Thomas and Dylan Jagger. But in 1998, while the boys were still infants, an incident of domestic violence took place. Lee was arrested and sentenced to six months in jail for attacking Anderson, who had allegedly been holding one of the children at the time.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, then, the couple then divorced. Then during a custody battle in 2001 Anderson made some very serious allegations against Lee. The actress claimed that he had also emotionally abused the children, and she asked for sole legal custody of the two boys. Plus, Anderson claimed that his behavior had become worse since she had started a new relationship.
Anderson was now dating musician Kid Rock, and she would become engaged to him in 2002. But then the pair suddenly broke up, allegedly because Anderson wouldn’t sign a prenuptial agreement. Though they must have worked it out to some extent, because in July 2006 the actress confirmed on her blog that she would shortly be marrying him.
Anderson wrote, “I’ve raised my kids alone in hope of a miracle. Well my miracle came and went. And came back and back because he knew that I’d wake up one day and realize that I was waiting for nothing.” She added, “I’m moving on. I feel like I’m finally free… I’m in love.”
The pair got married later in July 2006 on a yacht close to Saint-Tropez, France. And once again, Anderson wore only a bikini rather than a wedding dress. There were a lot of rumors that Kid Rock had only married his new bride because she was pregnant, but in October that year Anderson denied this to People magazine.
But within a matter of weeks, suddenly Anderson’s new marriage was all over. First, news hit that the actress had suffered a miscarriage while away in Vancouver, Canada, shooting the movie Blonde and Blonder. And a mere 17 days after that Anderson filed for divorce from her husband of less than a year.
According to the media, part of the reason for the divorce was Anderson’s cameo appearance as herself in the comedy movie Borat. Rumor had it that Rock had known nothing about his wife’s part in the film until it was screened for him, and afterwards he had become infuriated about it.
In November 2006 a “pal” of Anderson apparently told the New York Post that the rumor was true. They said that after the movie was shown, Kid Rock “started screaming at [Anderson], saying she had humiliated herself and telling her, ‘You’re nothing but a wh**e! You’re a s**t! How could you do that movie?’ – in front of everyone. It was very embarrassing.”
The source went on, “[Anderson] thought [that Rock] could have a sense of humor about the movie. She was in on the gag from the very beginning and loved doing the movie. And on the eve of what was supposed to be a very positive thing, he made it an awful night.” Anderson was, they claimed, “just very happy to not be in the same house with so much passive-aggressive hostility in it.”
Rock, for his part, claimed that he’d divorced Anderson for other reasons. In 2007 he told WENN that “it had stuff to do with the pre-nup and the post-nup. It had stuff to do with lying to me.” Furthermore, he maintained, Anderson would “talk down about my mother and about my sister – two people who were very instrumental in raising my son with me.”
Then just a year later Anderson walked down the aisle again. This time her groom was film producer Rick Salomon. The two got married in September 2007 at the massive Mirage casino resort on the Las Vegas strip. And it also wasn’t a very long wedding, as it happened in between two shows Anderson was performing.
Anderson didn’t wear a bikini for this third wedding, but instead she chose a Valentino dress made from white denim. A few famous names attended the hour-and-a-half ceremony, including Tobey Maguire and Hans Klok, Anderson’s co-star for her Las Vegas magic show. And then after the wedding, the latter went straight back to work.
But that relationship too was apparently a doomed one. By December the pair had separated, and in February of the following year Anderson asked for the marriage to be annulled. Salomon agreed with her terms, and the whole thing was soon over.
However, Anderson kept a relationship going with Salomon, although the exact nature of it was a puzzle to some. And when the actress appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show come October 2012, the chat show host asked her about it. Anderson responded that she and her third ex-husband were “best friends… with benefits.”
But in January 2014 Anderson suddenly surprised everybody when it transpired that she and Salomon had married again. She was spotted wearing a ring while attending an event called the Help Haiti Gala in Los Angeles that month. And when E! News asked if she was remarried, she answered in the affirmative.
But this marriage too lasted barely any time at all, and Anderson filed for divorce again only six months later. Things didn’t go smoothly at all; in March 2015, Anderson was granted a restraining order against Salomon – alleging that he’d abused her.
But in April 2015 the divorce went through and the pair released a joint statement. It said, “Public divorces can be harsh and cruel – we apologize to our families and friends for any hurt and embarrassment we have caused – we have come to an amicable agreement and are moving on.”
And then Anderson, of course, moved on to Peters. The latter too had a complicated romantic history; he had been married to four other women previously and had fathered children with three of them. So, when he wed Anderson in 2020, it was the fifth marriage for both the bride and groom.
Anderson was more than happy to share details of this new life milestone with her army of social media fans. On her Instagram account she implied that she would be changing her name to “Pamela Peters.” She also posted a happy photograph of herself and Peters to Instagram Stories.
As for Peters’ side of things, he had spoken about Anderson to The Hollywood Reporter back in 2017. He recollected their first meeting at the Playboy Mansion, saying, “I walked in and saw this little angel sitting at the bar. It was [Anderson]. She was like 19. I knew she would be a big star. We ended up living together.”
Peters went on, “If I find someone to be really special, like an actress, they usually become very famous. I have a great eye for beauty, specialness. Leslie Ann Warren. Barbra [Streisand]. All the different women I’ve been with. [Anderson] was amazingly ambitious, knew what she wanted to do, how she wanted to do it.”
Regarding Anderson’s past relationship with Lee, Peters claimed, “She was beat up all the time by that guy Tommy-whatever-his-name-was. I picked her up many times from her lawyer’s office and flew her up with her kids and hid her out in Aspen for a month because the guy was beating her up.”
And on Anderson’s career and her past as a Playboy model, Peters mused, “She made it through. She raised the kids. She’s got money. She’s got a career. She’s living in Paris. She’s the modern-day Marilyn Monroe. She’s just unique. And I think that’s why Hefner gave her 13 covers. He really loved her.”
By all accounts, it seemed like Peters and Anderson were well matched. However, based on the length of some of Anderson’s previous marriages, people could have been forgiven for wondering if this new one would even reach the one-year anniversary mark. And unfortunately, anyone who thought that was right, because the couple split just 12 days after the wedding.
Those keeping a very close eye on Anderson’s Instagram might have twigged that not all was well. The Saturday after the wedding she posted the Gaito Gazdanov quote, “Every love affair is an attempt to thwart fate; it’s a naive illusion of brief immortality.” And the day after that there was one from Albert Einstein, which read, “Madness is always doing the same thing and waiting for different results.”
On February 1, 2020, Anderson released a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, saying, “I have been moved by the warm reception to [Peters] and my union. We would be very grateful for your support as we take some time apart to re-evaluate what we want from life and from one another.”
Anderson continued, “Life is a journey and love is a process. With that universal truth in mind, we have mutually decided to put off the formalization of our marriage certificate and put our faith in the process. Thank you for respecting our privacy.” But as to what exactly had happened, the actress simply didn’t say.
To find out more, People magazine got talking to “a source close to the former couple.” That person said, “Although [Anderson and Peters] have known each other for more than 30 years, they had never lived together. Living with someone, you truly get to know them. [Anderson is] a romantic, but she is also very independent.”
As news of the short-lived marriage and the split spread all over the internet, Anderson’s public posts hinted at her state of mind. The day after she released her statement, the actress tweeted out a poem which read, “Love can be all-encompassing but love can also be singular, platonic, or just what you need at that moment.”
Anderson’s poem went on, “Love can be extraordinary, and all you wish upon a shooting star, but love can also be that remedy that works to help heal wounds or scars.” In response to the post, some people offered snarky remarks about the star’s five marriages, but others offered sympathy.
Now, Anderson seems to have picked herself up and returned to work. On her Twitter now there are promotions for causes she supports, such as the animal charity PETA, rather than any details about her marriage to Peters. Hopefully she’ll find happiness again soon – with or without a marriage.
