Jennifer Lawrence Buys Jessica Simpson’s Incredible Beverly Hills Mansion for a Cool $8m

Jessica Simpson and Sydney Holland, the former partner of media magnate Sumner Redstone, are among this amazing home’s former owners. Ellen DeGeneres once lived at the European-style property, too. Once you take a look inside you’ll realize why it’s so appealing for A-listers.

A clue as to its amazingness lies in the property’s price. Holland bought the house from Simpson for $6.4 million – and despite later listing it for $7.85 million Holland eventually sold it to Lawrence for $8.225 million. Clearly more than one wealthy buyer wanted the property, and you’re about to find out why.

The French-style house, which is spread over 5,500 square feet, contains five bedrooms and six bathrooms. Holland added to its style by installing French moldings, marble and wood floors and luxurious new light fixtures. From winding staircases to marble countertops, this property is typically Beverly Hills.

There is, technically, another bedroom on the second floor, though it’s since been converted into a dressing room – A-listers have to look their best, after all. It’s kitted out like a professional salon, so there’s never really an excuse not to look like a million dollars.

At the front of the classy 1991-built house is a koi pond complete with a fountain, while a more people-friendly lap pool is found at the property’s rear. It’s bordered by an immaculate lawn and a pretty patio.

There’s more than one patio outside – indeed, the flagstone one surrounding the koi pond is arguably the highlight. The pool, meanwhile, can be used in total privacy thanks to the tall bamboo and copious amounts of shrubbery that shield it from the outside world.

The mansion’s master bedroom is really a suite with its marble-topped bathroom, huge walk-in wardrobe and separate sitting area in front of large French windows. It’s located on the second floor along with two additional guest bedrooms that are almost as sumptuous.

Catering to guests is surely a delight thanks to the mansion’s kitchen, which features glorious marble worktops, top-of-the-range appliances and an island unit. There’s an adjacent breakfast room that extends into the garden, too.

If over-eating’s a potential problem – and there’s every chance that it will be in such luxurious surroundings – then there’s an on-site gym where any extra calories can be burned off. This mansion, it seems, has everything a Hollywood star could need.

There’s also an office – which probably comes in handy when the next contract lands on the doormat – and a well-stocked library. There’s basically every reason to never have to leave.

Going out and meeting the neighbors, however, needs to be done. Jennifer Lawrence is certainly in good company – Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz are her near neighbors, as is Cameron Diaz.

When it’s time to invite the neighbors over the mansion’s lavish dining room can be utilized. It features a chandelier above the wooden dining table, ornate drapery and classy slipcovers.

Shortly after moving to the Beverly Hills enclave Lawrence joked to Extra about how many people had lived there before her. “It’s Ellen [DeGeneres’] old house,” she said. “It was Jessica Simpson’s old house. It’s like the neighborhood whore.”

“I was outside and some girl said, ‘I grew up in this house,’” she continued. “Beat it, kid. Everybody’s lived in this house.” The actress is keen to put her own stamp on the property, however, having revealed that she’s spent time redecorating it.

Despite the lavishness of the mansion, it’s not actually that noticeable. There’s so much greenery surrounding it – from the tall trees to the impeccable lawn – that it’s almost unassuming.

Even parts of the house’s exterior are green. Ivy grows up many of its walls, while borders beneath windows are planted up to perfection. Even the gaps between the patio slabs feature low-lying greenery.

It’s certainly not easy to find, for the property is located in Beverly Hills’ Hidden Valley – an area so exclusive that it’s protected by guards around the clock. As for the zip code; you guessed it, it’s 90210.

White may be the dominant color inside, but the green connection continues with the number of French windows built into the property. Stepping out of these onto a patio or a balcony means the outside lushness is never far away.

Lawrence may not have any children yet, but her house also came with a nursery that most little ones could only dream of. Home décor magazine Lonny reckoned she’d “find a new purpose for this ultra-sweet space.”

Indeed, the actress will clearly put her mark on this luxury Beverly Hills pad. Unless you’re invited round, though, it’s unlikely you’ll catch another glimpse inside – or indeed outside – until Lawrence decides to move out.
