Eleven hours aboard an airplane is a grueling prospect – and especially so if you’re bringing a baby along. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry had to deal with this very scenario recently, bringing their son along to South Africa. So according to Meghan herself, how did the youngest member of the family acquit himself?

As part of their job descriptions, members of the royal family are obliged to travel overseas for meetings and events. And in September 2019 it was time for Meghan and Harry to jet out to South Africa. Here, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex met with the people of Cape Town, as well as some charity representatives.

The royal couple weren’t alone, though, as they’d brought along their baby boy Archie. And after three days in South Africa, it was time for the youngster to make a public appearance. Meeting Archbishop Desmond Tutu, this occasion represented Archie’s first foray into royal touring – but undoubtedly not his last.

At one stage during the trip, the royals paid a visit to Cape Town inhabitants Shaamiela and Ibrahim Samodien. Speaking to The Sun newspaper after the meeting, Shaamiela recalled the royal pair’s words about Archie’s behavior on the flight over. She said, “They mentioned Archie and said how wonderful he is and he’s a wonderful traveler.”

And according to another source, Meghan had more praise for her baby boy. As Samodien’s pal Waseefa Majiet put it to website Entertainment Daily in September 2019, “Meghan was speaking about motherhood and the transition and said that Archie was a good traveler. She said the transition was quite smooth because he’s an easy baby and he was an easy traveler. Harry said he slept on his chest almost 11 hours during the flight.”
