Tuning into a golf tournament on TV gives you hours of coverage as the athletes compete for the championship. But the cameras rarely pan to the wives and girlfriends who support their PGA-player partners. We’re here to change that. Today, the spotlight’s on the women who stand beside golf’s biggest stars. They deserve a golf clap, too, for their unending support – some of them have been there for decades. Get to know 40 of them by reading on.
40. Justine Reed – Patrick Reed’s wife
Patrick Reed first hooked up with his future spouse, Justine, at Augusta State University. And, although she graduated in 2011 and became a nurse, she gave up her medical career to work alongside the pro golfer. Yes, Mrs. Reed served as her husband’s caddy for a few years before she stepped down to give birth to their first child, a daughter named Windsor-Wells. Nowadays, her brother, Kessler, caddies instead, while she cheers on her beau from the sidelines at PGA tour events.
39. Emma Lofgren – Henrik Stenson’s wife
Like many of the pairs on this list, Henrik Stenson and Emma Lofgren met because of golf. She attended the University of South Carolina and played the sport there. Meanwhile, Stenson would come and practice with the team, even though he wasn’t a student. Even more interestingly, both bride and groom are from opposite ends of Sweden: time on the tees in the southeastern U.S. brought them together.
38. Clare Craig – Tommy Fleetwood’s wife
Clare Craig married Tommy Fleetwood in 2017, two years after she began working as the golfer’s manager. Just before their nuptials, they welcomed a son named Franklin. And the golfer stepped back from the British Masters that year so he could spend precious time around the house with his newborn and his wife.
37. Erin Walker – Jimmy Walker’s wife
Jimmy Walker married his wife, Erin, in September 2015 and the two remain loved up 15 years later. They have survived the ups and downs of the PGA and some personal health struggles, too. Both husband and wife have been diagnosed with Lyme Disease, and Erin uses her blog, Tour Wife Travels, as a way to raise awareness for the condition and its side effects.
36. Emily Braisher – Tyrrell Hatton’s girlfriend
Emily Braisher graduated from Nottingham Trent University and immediately traded in her student lifestyle for a jetsetting one. She follows her PGA golfer beau, Tyrrell Hatton, as he competes around the world. And, while he plays in these contests around the globe, she blogs about her travel experiences on a website with a perhaps-telling title, Wife on Tour.
35. Kandi Mahan – Hunter Mahan’s wife
Kandi Mahan was once a professional cheerleader, so we imagine she fits right into the role of supportive PGA wife. Before she married Hunter Mahan in 2011, she danced for the Dallas Mavericks and cheered for the Dallas Cowboys. The pair have a daughter named Zoe, and Hunter’s sponsor, PING, commemorated her 2013 birth with a pair of specially made golden, date-etched putters for the golfer.
34. Jordan Ontiveros – Cameron Smith’s girlfriend
Cameron Smith came in second at the 2020 Masters, and he did it with his longtime girlfriend by his side. The Australian PGA pro has been dating Jordan Ontiveros since 2016. And the pair share more than just their love for one another – she used to play golf on the Symetra Tour, the feeder tour for the LPGA.
33. Kristin Stape – Graeme McDowell’s wife
In 2010 Graeme McDowell needed his Florida abode redecorated, so he called in an interior designer. Little did he know, the woman hired for the job, Kristin Stape, would one day become his wife. The pair wed in the Bahamas in 2013 and they share two children: Wills and Vale.
32. Alayna Galea’i-Finau – Tony Finau’s wife
Tony Finau and his wife, Alayna Galea’i-Finau, are devoted to each other and to the Mormon faith. As such, when he makes the cut at PGA events – and he usually does – it invariably means playing on Sundays; when this happens Alayna skips spectating in favor of going to worship with their four children. Indeed, it’s generally rarer to see Galea’i-Finau on the sidelines when her husband competes. She only goes to about half the events, watching their brood the rest of the time.
31. Sybi Kuchar – Matt Kuchar’s wife
Both Matt and Sybi Kuchar attended the Georgia Institute of Technology, but the pair were just friends in college. He has said they were simply preoccupied with their respective sports: he, of course, played golf, and she played tennis. But when they reconnected two years after their graduation, they quickly realized that they were more than just pals. They said “I do” in 2003, and they’ve been together ever since.
30. Angie Watson – Bubba Watson’s wife
Angie and Bubba Watson’s story goes like many of the others on this list: they met as athletes at the University of Georgia. She played basketball there and went onto a career in the WNBA. And, as we know, Bubba has had an illustrious career in golf, including a brace of Masters triumphs, donning the famous green jacket in 2012 and again in 2014.
29. Nel-Mare Oosthuizen – Louis Oosthuizen
Louis Oosthuizen won Britain’s Open Championship in 2010, and he can also lay claim to a rare and perhaps-unwanted feat: that of having ended up second at all four Majors: chronologically at the 2012 Masters, the 2015 Open Championship, the 2015 U.S. Open and the 2017 PGA Championship. His personal life is a special kind of story, too. He and his wife, Nel-Mare, knew each other as children, and both grew up on South African farms. Since their 2007 wedding, they have welcomed three daughters: Sophia, Emma and Jana.
28. Maria Villegas – Camilo Villegas’s wife
Camilo Villegas has certainly made his presence known in the PGA. In 2006 magazine Golf Digest deemed him “the sexiest player on tour,” and his striking fashion choices have always made a splash, too. So, it shouldn’t have been a surprise that he and his girlfriend, Maria Ochoa Mora, got married in a Colombian ceremony so opulent and sumptuous that it appeared in multiple tabloids.
27. Maya Lowe – Xander Schauffele’s girlfriend
Xander Schauffele has been within striking distance at all four major championships, coming in second at both The Open and Masters, and third at the U.S. Open. Throughout it all, his longtime girlfriend Maya Lowe has been by his side. They met while they were students at two San Diego-area universities, and they’ve been together since 2014.
26. Jillian Bradley – Keegan Bradley’s wife
Keegan Bradley won the U.S. PGA Championship at his first attempt in 2011, making him one of six golfers ever to achieve this notable feat. His personal life hasn’t been too shabby, either. He and his wife, Jillian, said “I do” in 2016, sparing no expense on their lavish Palm Beach nuptials. Nowadays, she sticks by his side, traveling the globe as he competes on the links.
25. Ellie Day – Jason Day’s wife
Jason Day and his future wife, Ellie, met while she was a waitress in a Lucas, Ohio, restaurant. Sparks didn’t fly right away, though. The pair happened to cross paths years later, and that’s when their relationship took off. Together, they’d drive an RV to his golf tournaments until his career skyrocketed. Most notably, the former World Number One won the 2015 PGA Championship with a record score of 20 under par.
24. Tori Slater – Daniel Berger’s girlfriend
How Daniel Berger met Florida realtor Tori Slater is unclear, but the couple have made it clear that they have a lot in common. For one thing, she attends many of his PGA events, so she enjoys the sport, too. They are both avid volunteers at Nicklaus’s Children Hospital, sharing their experiences doing so through social media.
23. Kate Rose – Justin Rose’s wife
You might remember Kate Phillips, as she was then back then, from when she flipped her way through a dazzling gymnastics career, which ended in the early 2000s. After that, she kept her sports-centric career alive by taking a job with IMG, the athletically focused marketing company. And it was through that post that she met PGA golfer Justin Rose, who she married in 2006. You’ll often see her at her husband’s tour events these days.
22. Diane Donald – Luke Donald’s wife
Luke Donald played golf for Northwestern University, and that’s where the English player met his future wife, Diane. When the pair tied the knot, they honored her Greek roots by marrying on the island of Santorini. Nowadays, they split their time between homes in Illinois and Florida, where they raise a trio of daughters: Georgina, Elle and Sophia.
21. Kim Lloyd – Matthew Wolff’s girlfriend
Kim Lloyd commemorated her one-year anniversary with Matthew Wolff in an April 8, 2020, Instagram post, referring to her golfer beau as her “best friend.” The young duo met while at Oklahoma State University, where she’s still finishing up her economics degree. Meanwhile, her beau has been rising up the professional world rankings; he also recently tied for fourth at the 2020 PGA Championship.
20. Marie Kojzar – Adam Scott’s wife
Neither Marie Kojzar nor Adam Scott have told the story of how they met to the public, but there are rumors that the pair’s story started, of course, on the links. You see, she worked as a nanny for pro golfer Thomas Bjorn, and that’s how she met the Aussie athlete. That supposedly happened in 2001, and the couple dated on and off for years before their secret 2014 wedding. Nowadays, he’s one of the best golfers in the world, she’s an architect, and they have two children together.
19. Sonya Toms – David Toms’s wife
Louisiana natives Sonya and David Toms both went to Louisiana State University (LSU), where he, of course, played collegiate golf. His career then brought him onto the PGA Tour and later, onto the PGA Champions Tour for seniors. He and his wife have had two children, Carter and Anna, and their son’s burgeoning golf career brought them full-circle: he signed to play for LSU in 2015.
18. Nicole Curtright – Abraham Ancer’s girlfriend
Not much is known about Abraham Ancer and Nicole Curtright’s story, except that they went public with their relationship at the start of 2020. Both of them have since shared a slew of loved-up pics to Instagram. And, while her beau is a PGA golfer, she has her eyes on the road: Curtright works for Porsche as its North America consumer experience and marketing director.
17. Audrey Leishman – Marc Leishman’s wife
Unlike many other couples on this list, Audrey and Marc Leishman’s love story didn’t start on the golf course: it began in a bar. The pair met in 2007 while he was traveling around for golf competitions, hoping to move up the ranks and go pro. That dream, of course, came true, and he and Audrey have been together for just as long. Nowadays, they live in Virginia Beach, Virginia, with their three kids.
16. Chelsea Gates – Peter Uihlein’s wife
Peter Uihlein now plays on the PGA and European Tours after ranking as the number one amateur in the world. His personal life has gone just as swimmingly. He proposed to his now-wife, Chelsea Gates, at Miami’s Zoological Wildlife Foundation in front of adorable tiger cubs – what’s better than that?
15. Sophia Phalen Bertolami – Bryson DeChambaeu’s girlfriend
Bryson DeChambeau may have won the 2020 U.S. Open, but his girlfriend, Sophia Bertolami, is famous in her own right, too. The model has gained an Instagram following after adopting what she thought was a mini pig. Her pet, Stella, ended up being a regular pig and now weighs a half-ton.
14. Angela Akins – Sergio Garcia’s wife
Angela Akins, a one-time collegiate golfer, became a Golf Channel reporter and interviewer. Then, her personal life became golf-centric, too, when she started dating PGA pro Sergio Garcia in 2016. They got engaged and married in 2017, the same year that he won the Masters. And the next year, they welcomed a daughter named Azalea, a moniker chosen in honor of the flowers that grow at the famed course where he won his green jacket.
13. Pollyanna Woodward – Paul Casey’s wife
Paul Casey has been at the top of the game for years now, but he achieved his highest position to date in the official world rankings in 2009, when he climbed to number three on the list. Two years later, his personal life ascended to new heights, too. He started dating Pollyanna Woodward, a TV presenter and fellow Brit. They got married in 2015 and have a son and daughter together.
12. Katherine Zhu – Collin Morikawa’s girlfriend
Collin Morikawa is only 23, but he has already made his mark on the PGA tour, winning the 2020 PGA Championship. Perhaps it’s because he has a girlfriend who can golf, too. Katherine Zhu, a native of Vancouver, British Columbia, played the sport at Pepperdine University. She continues to hit the links, and she travels the PGA tour trail with her beau, too.
11. Kelley Cahill Rahm – Jon Rahm’s wife
Jon Rahm went to Arizona State University, and that’s where he met his future wife, Kelley Cahill. She, like her golfer beau, played sports – at ASU, she competed in javelin, and she dabbles in boxing and tennis, too. Clearly, the athletic duo have a lot in common, which bodes well for their marriage; the happy couple tied the knot in December 2019.
10. Suzanne Stonebarger – Ricky Barnes’s wife
Suzanne Stonebarger plays professional beach volleyball, and she and her teammate, Michelle More, have a fitting nickname: “Team Gorgeous.” Off the sand, she’s got another great partner in her husband, PGA golfer Ricky Barnes. The competitive pair got married in 2010.
9. Annie Spieth – Jordan Spieth’s wife
Jordan Spieth and Annie Verret met in high school, long before he became a headline-grabbing young golfer in the PGA. His career hasn’t been as explosive as it was when he started, but the pair have stayed strong side-by-side. They tied the knot over Thanksgiving weekend in 2018, almost a year after their Christmastime engagement in 2017.
8. Amy Mickelson – Phil Mickelson’s wife
While a student at Arizona State University, Amy Mickelson cheered for the local NBA team, the Phoenix Suns. It’s no surprise, then, that she caught the attention of Phil Mickelson, who had just graduated from the same school. Fast-forward to 2020, and the couple have been married for nearly a quarter-century, and they share three kids. They have supported each other through it all, including Amy’s battle with breast cancer, during which time her husband stepped away from Tour events. Afterwards, he came back to win the Masters for a third time in 2010.
7. Allison Stokke – Rickie Fowler’s wife
Allison Stokke undoubtedly understands her golfer husband’s competitive drive. She broke records as an amateur and professional pole-vaulter before she transitioned from track-and-field stardom into a career as an athletic-wear model. Meanwhile, she met PGA pro Rickie Fowler, to whom she got engaged in 2018 and married in 2019.
6. Erica Herman – Tiger Woods’s girlfriend
Erica Herman became manager of a pop-up restaurant called The Woods – which just so happened to be the brainchild of golf legend Tiger Woods. The couple have been together since September 2017, and she has since appeared at a slew of his tournament events in the areas reserved for wives and girlfriends. She was even there when her beau won the Masters in 2019.
5. Jena Sims – Brooks Koepka’s girlfriend
Actress Jena Sims has an impressive resume, with credits on such shows as Dexter, CSI, One Tree Hill and Entourage. Speaking of entourage, she finds time away from her burgeoning career to support her PGA golfer boyfriend, Brooks Koepka, who has won the PGA Championship and U.S. Open twice each.
4. Jillian Wisniewski – Justin Thomas’s girlfriend
Justin Thomas and his longtime girlfriend, Jillian Wisniewski, made waves during the 2017 PGA Championship – and not just because he won the tournament. Cameras caught him giving her a flirty pat on the back – well, lower back – when he saw her along the course. The couple, like his career, have done well ever since.
3. Taylor Dowd Simpson – Webb Simpson’s wife
Taylor Dowd Simpson is technically Webb Simpson’s college sweetheart. The two went to Wake Forest University and dated throughout their undergraduate years. Once they graduated, though, they broke up, and they stayed apart for a year. Upon their reunion, though, they clearly realized they had made a mistake. Within five months, they were engaged, and five months after that, they were married.
2. Erica Stoll – Rory McIlroy’s wife
Rory McIlroy and his wife, Erica Stoll, started out as friends. She worked for the PGA of America at the time and rented a condo in Palm Beach, a normal lifestyle that the golfer later described to British newspaper The Sun in 2017 as “refreshing.” More importantly, though, he said, “I love that she knows everything about me, and there was no judgment there.” Instead, it was – and is – all love, and the couple made it official at their wedding in April 2017.
1. Paulina Gretzky – Dustin Johnson’s fiancé
Paulina Gretzky may not be an athlete herself, but she hails from a famous sporting family – her father, Wayne, is one of hockey’s all-time greats. Now, the family has a great golfer in their ranks, too, since she’s been in a relationship with PGA golfer Dustin Johnson. The pair got engaged in 2013 and share two sons: River and Tatum.
